Frequently Asked QUESTIONS

In our first session together, I won’t overwhelm you with a long checklist of questions. While I’ll ask a few, my main goal is to get a genuine sense of what it feels like for us to work together. Often, by the time someone arrives in therapy, they’ve already been carrying quite a lot. My hope is that our first session is not just procedural but also meaningful – that you feel like you leave with a little more support and some space or relief around what you’ve been holding.

Sessions are $180 per 50 minutes.
I offer sliding scale rates for those who cannot afford the full fee. At this time, all sliding-scale spots are full.
Payment options include HSA/FSA, credit or debit card, check, or cash.

I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly. However, I can provide a superbill you may submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.
To see if this is an option for you, call your insurance company and ask about your “out-of-network counseling benefits.” Most insurance companies will require a DSM diagnosis for reimbursement. This is something we can discuss together, as there are both benefits and limitations to including a formal diagnosis in your records.

No. While my degree is in Marriage and Family Therapy, I work exclusively with individuals.
This may feel confusing, but here’s why: my training taught me to understand individuals within larger systems: family, relationships, cultural, political, and more. So even when I sit with one person, I’m always holding an awareness of the broader contexts that shape and impact their experience. In other words, my degree informs how I work, not who I see.

This is such an important question. A good first step is to read my website and other therapy profiles to see if they resonate with you. If they do, you can schedule a phone consult.
During the consult, you’ll get a sense of me and how I work, and I’ll assess whether my training and expertise align with your needs. Afterward, notice how you feel. Whether it’s a small “yes”, a full-body “yes”, or somewhere in between, you can reach out to schedule a first session.
If at any point either of us feels we may not be the right fit, I welcome that conversation and will gladly support you in finding the care that’s best for you.

The frequency of therapy depends on your unique goals and needs. In the beginning, I usually recommend weekly or biweekly sessions to build momentum. Over time, as your sense of well-being strengthens, you may shift to monthly or occasional check-ins. We’ll collaborate to find the rhythm that supports you best.

The length of therapy varies widely. I work at a depth and pace that often lends itself to longer-term work, but some people find what they need within just a few months.
AEDP studies, for example, have shown strong results within a 16-session model. Some people choose therapy as part of their ongoing self-care for years, while others come for a focused period and return as needed. We’ll find the approach that fits your goals and preferences.
